Un día en Milán, la capital italiana de la moda

¡Hola a todos! ¿Qué tal vuestra semana? Yo ya estoy en casa de vuelta de Italia, y tengo unas agujetas que no puedo con ellas 😛 Pero bueno, no pasa nada, ha sido un viaje maravilloso y el cansancio se va en unos días. En esta ocasión nos hemos desplazado hasta una de las ciudades italianas más conocidas: Milano. Y uno de los días lo dedicamos a visitar la preciosa Venecia, pero de eso hablaremos más adelante, en el próximo post. Milán es uno de los lugares favoritos para visitar en Italia, une perfectamente modernidad con tradición. Por un lado tenemos esa ciudad actual llena de rascacielos y capital de la moda, y por otro lado está esa Milán de grandes palacios, castillos e iglesias. Pero empecemos desde el principio, llegamos el Viernes muy temprano y nos dirigimos directas a nuestro hotel, el Hotel Dei Cavalieri. Elegir hotel en Milán es todo un reto, yo sinceramente elegí este por su posición: está a 3 minutos andando del Duomo. Además tenía estilo, unas habitaciones bonitas, unos desayunos con buenísima pinta y una terraza en el piso 10 que te deja sin palabras. Todo lo que yo buscaba 😉 Nos pusimos en marcha y justo al salir del hotel nos encontramos con la Cripta di San Giovanni in Conca. No es un monumento de los más conocidos, pero son las ruinas de una antigua iglesia cuyos restos han quedado sepultados bajo el nivel del suelo actual. Es muy curioso de ver, así que si pasáis cerca no dudéis en bajar (y está todo en español). Un poco más tarde llegamos a la Plaza del Duomo, donde se encuentra una catedral absolutamente impresionante, la tercera más grande del mundo por detrás de la Catedral de San Pedro y de la de Sevilla. Empezó a construirse en 1386 pero no se terminó hasta 1965, de hecho a día de hoy sigue en obras. Entrar en el duomo no es caro, la entrada general son 2€, pero el problema es que siempre hay una cola interminable. Pero si tenéis tiempo no dejéis de entrar, el interior es increíble, lleno de columnas, estatuas y cuadros. Como dato curioso, hay un clavo de la Cruz de Cristo en una bóveda del techo situada tras el altar, uno de los grandes tesoros de la catedral.

Hello to everybody! How is your week? I’m at home just-arrived from Italy, I have a lot of stiffness, I’m dead 😛 But well, it doesn’t matter, it has been a wonderful trip and the tiredness disappears in a few days. In this occasion we have travelled to one of the most knows Italian cities: Milano. And one of the days we went to visit the beautiful Venice, but we will talk about this later, on the next post. Milan is one of the favourite places to visit in Italy, it connects perfectly modernity with tradition. On the one hand we have that modern city full of skyscrapers and fashion capital, and on the other hand it’s that Milan of big palaces, castles and churches. But let’s start from the beginning, we arrived on Friday very early and we went directly to our hotel, the Hotel Dei Cavalieri. Choose hotel in Milan is a difficult challenge, I sincerely chose this one because of its position: it’s 3 minutes far from the Duomo. Besides, it has style, beautiful rooms, breakfasts which look great and a rooftop in the 10 floor that makes you speechless. Everything I was looking for 😉 We got underway and just next to the hotel we found the Cripta di San Giovanni in Conca. It’s not one of the most famous monuments, but they are the ruins from a old church which remains are buried under the level of the actual floor. It’s very curious to see, so if you are near from there, don’t hesitate to go down. A little later, we arrived to the Duomo Square, where is the absolutely stunning Cathedral, the third biggest in the world, after the Catedral of Saint Peter and the one from Seville. The construction began in 1386 but it didn’t finish until 1965, actually nowadays it’s still being built. Get in the Duomo isn’t expensive, the ticket costs 2€, the problem is that there is always a endless queue. But if you have time, you have to visit the interior, it’s incredible, full of columns, statues and pictures. As curiosity, there is a nail from the Cross of Christ in a vault of the roof located just behind the altar, one of the big treasures of the Cathedral.

Justo a la izquierda de la plaza del Duomo, encontramos los arcos que dan paso a la famosa Galería Víctor Manuel II, un edificio que lleva más de 130 años albergando las tiendas y boutiques de alta costura y joyas más conocidas del mundo. Empieza aquí el gran recorrido para los amantes de la moda en Milán, comenzando en estas galerías, pasando por la Piazza della Scala donde se encuentra el conocido Teatro della Scalla, para acabar recorriendo la primera calle que conforma el famoso «Cuadrilátero de la moda«, la via de Alessandro Manzoni. Dentro de este cuadrilátero encontramos tiendas como Hermes, KENZO, Dior, Elisabetta Franchi, Balenciaga, Valentino, Alberta Ferreti, todo un paraíso para los que amamos el mundo de la moda. Nuestro recorrido continúa caminando hasta el Castillo Sforzesco, una fortificación que data del siglo XIV pero que ha sido destruido y reconstruido innumerables veces. La fortaleza no es solo uno de los castillos más destacables de la historia de Milán, sino que además es un museo que alberga importantes colecciones de arte. Sinceramente, el castillo es totalmente imponente, cuando entras te sientes como si hubieras viajado 500 años atrás en el tiempo. Entrar a la fortaleza es gratis, puedes pasear por el patio, pasar por debajo de sus enormes arcos y puertas e incluso tomar algo en la fachada norte del castillo. La entrada al museo y al interior cuesta 5 euros, es un precio muy barato para las grandes obras de arte que vamos a encontrar dentro y lo increíble que es el lugar. Además si hace mal clima y está lloviendo, es un autentico planazo.

Just to the left of the Duomo Square, we find the arcs from the famous Victor Manuel II Galleries, a building that has been in existence for over 130 years, being home to the most famous haute couture and jewels boutiques and shops. Begins here the big route for the fashion lovers in Milan, starting in this gallery, crossing through the Piazza della Scalla where is the known Teatro della Scalla, to finish walking across the first street of the famous «Fashion quadrilateral«, the via Alessando Manzoni. Inside this quadrilateral we find shops like Hermes, KENZO, Dior, Elisabetta Franchi, Balenciaga, Valentino, Alberta Ferreti, a real paradise for all the ones who love the fashion world. Our route continues walking to the Castle Sforzezco, a fortification from the XIV century but which has been destroyed and rebuilt innumerable times. The fortress is not only one of the most significant castles in the history of Milan, it’s also a museum that contains very important art collections. Sincerely, the castle is totally magnificent, when you get in it you feel like you have tralleved 500 years back in time. Go into the fortress is free, you can walk around the patio, go under the enormous arcs and doors and even have some drinks in the north facade of the castle. The tickets for the museum and the interior cost 5 euros, it’s a very cheap prize for the great artworks and the incredible place. Besides, if the weather is bad and it’s raining, it’s a super cool plan.

No podemos completar esta guía de Milán sin organizar una vuelta nocturna. La ciudad tiene otro «color» totalmente diferente de noche, por lo que es un recorrido obligatorio. Lo primero y muy importante es una buena merienda, los famosos helados italianos son una buena apuesta. Sino en Milán podéis encontrar miles de pastelerías con chocolates buenísimos. Yo no lo dudé ni por un segundo, paramos en una cafetería cerca del Duomo a descansar y probar algunos de esos maravillosos dulces. Luego aprovechamos para hacer un recorrido similar al diurno, por ejemplo volvimos a la Galería Víctor Manuel II, la cual es super bonita de noche, parece de día de lo iluminada que está. Además hay muchos museos que abren hasta tarde, por lo que es un plan que podemos posponer hasta que el sol se vaya, como es el caso de la Pinacoteca Ambrosiana (una de las mejores galerías de arte de Milán), la Pinacoteca di Brera, el Museo Poldi Pezzoli y La Trienal.

We can’t complete this guide of Milan without organising a night walk. The city has other different «colour» by night, so it’s a must route. The first thing, and very important one, it’s have a good snack, the famous Italian ice cream are a good bet. If you prefer you can find thousands of patisseries with super tasty chocolate. I didn’t hesitate for a second, we stopped in a cake shop near from the Duomo to get some rest and taste one of those wonderful sweets. Later, we did a similar route in compare with the day route, for example we came back to Victor Manuel II Gallery, which is so beautiful by night, it’s full of light so it looks like midday. Besides there are a lot of museums which open until late time, so it’s a good plan to pospone until the sun goes down, like the case of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana (one of the best art gallery in Milan), the Pinacoteca di Brera, the Museum Poldi Pezzoli and La Trienal.

Con toda esta guía habréis recorrido los principales lugares de la ciudad de Milán, pero si os sobra tiempo y vuestros pies os lo permiten, aun tenéis miles de sitios más que ver. Por ejemplo, uno de los cuadros más famosos del mundo se encuentra en la iglesia Santa Maria delle Grazie: La ultima cena de Leonardo da Vinci. La entrada cuesta 10€ y hay que sacarla con meses de antelación porque está absolutamente lleno de gente, por lo que es una visita que tenemos que llevar organizada de antes. La Piazza Mercanti, la Estación Central, la Basílica de San Ambrosio, la Iglesia de San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore son otros lugares preciosos que merecen muchísimo la pena visitar. With all this guide you will have gone all over the main places of the city of Milan, but if you have more free time an your feet have survived, you still have many places to visit. For example, one of the most famous pictures in the world is located in the Santa Maria delle Grazie Church: The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci. The tickets cost 10€ and you have to buy them many months before because it’s totally full of people, so it’s a visit that you should have organised before travelling there. The Piazza Mercanti, the Central Station, the Saint Ambrosio Basilica, the San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore Church are other beautiful places which really worth it to visit.
