Juntos para siempre, Palapa Restaurante

¡Buenas queridos amigos! Hoy os traigo un post muy interesante. Ya va quedando menos para que el frío y la lluvia nos abandonen, y el ansiado buen tiempo llegue. Y con el sol y el calorcito llega algo que a todos nos gusta: las bodas 🙂 No, no, tranquilos, yo no me caso, al menos no todavía, ni siquiera habría novio en el altar XD Pero seguro que alguno de vosotros si, o igual conocéis a alguien que se tira a la piscina del matrimonio. Pero no solo llegan bodas, llegan miles de eventos y ocasiones especiales que celebrar. La cosa es que hace unos días el restaurante Palapa nos invitó a una degustación de su menu especial para bodas/eventos. Me pareció una muy buena idea asistir para conocer por primera vez el restaurante, y por supuesto, todo lo que ofrece su carta, ya que el restaurante está abierto de manera regular al público, puedes ir a comer cuando quieras (en verano lo va a petar, estoy segura, ahora entenderéis porque). El primer punto a favor es la localización, Palapa se encuentra en la playa de Estepona, literalmente EN la playa y muy cerquita de Marbella. Por lo que las vistas y el ambiente son absolutamente maravillosos. El segundo punto a favor es el propio restaurante, como bien indica su nombre, está construido y decorado como una «palapa», un tipo de vivienda filipina al aire libre cuyo techo está hecho con hojas de palma. Lo cual hace del interior, algo espectacular.

Welcome dear friends! Today I bring you a very interesting post. Less is left for cold and rainy days leave us, and the desirable good weather arrives. And with the sun and warm days it arrives something which everybody likes: weddings 🙂 No, no, calm down, I’m not getting married, at least not yet, there wouldn’t be even a boyfriend on the altar XD But sure that some of you yes, or maybe you know someone who it’s jumping into the marriage pool. But there is not only arriving weddings, it arrives thousands of event and special occasions to celebrate. The thing is that some days ago, the restaurant Palapa invited us to taste their special menu for weddings/events. I thought it was a wonderful idea to assist and know for the first time the restaurant, and of course, what we can find in their menu, because the restaurant is opened always to the public, you can have lunch there when you want (this place is going to be the top place in summer, you will see now why). The first point in favour is the location, Palapa is in Estepona beach, literally ON the beach and very near from Marbella. That’s why the view and the ambient are absolutely wonderful. The second point in favour is the own restaurant, as its’ name says, it’s built and decorated as a «palapa», a type of outdoor living from the Philippines which roof is made by palm-frond. This makes the interior, something spectacular.

La idea era degustar este menú como si estuviéramos en una boda de verdad, por lo que empezamos en la zona lounge de Palapa con unos aperitivos, ya sabéis mientras se espera a los novios 😛 (ya voy avisando, que a partir de aquí vais a empezar a salivar). La carta de aperitivos es super extensa, y probamos algunas de sus mejores propuestas: Tacos de atún, Nigiri de salmon, Crispy Gambas rebozadas, Cono de gambas, Rollitos de mousse de pato, Pimientos del piquillo rellenos, Mini brocheta de ave con manzana y Cangrejo rangoon. Si tuviera que elegir, aunque está muy difícil, me quedaría con los rollitos de mousse y los conos de gambas, estaban de muerte. Mientras probábamos todos estos aperitivos nos explicaron que íbamos a comer en 3 mesas diferentes, ya que cada mesa tenía una decoración especial, pensada por Virginia Florista para cada ocasión: una mesa más romántica, una más clásica y otra mas rústica. Empezamos en la más romántica con los entrantes: Crema de calabacín, varios tipos de Sushi, Calamares fritos, Salpicón de marisco y el Txangurro gratinado. Yo en este punto ya empezaba a estar llena XD pero la degustación de sushi que nos hicieron y el Txangurro (un cangrejo) estaban tan increíblemente buenos que no podías decir que no.

The idea was to try this menu as we were in a real wedding, so we started in the lounge area of Palapa with some appetisers, you know, while you are waiting for the husband and wife 😛 (I have to tell you that from here, you are going to start drooling). The menu of appetisers was very extensive, and we tried some of their best proposals: Red tuna taco, Salmon nigiri, Crispy fried shrimps, Shrimps cones, Duck mousse rolls, Stuffed piquillo peppers, Mini skewer with apple and Rangoon Crab. If I have to choose, although it’s very difficult, I will take the duck mousse rolls and the shrimps cones, they were to die for. While we were trying the all these appetisers, the team explained us that we were to have lunch in 3 different tables, because every table had a special decoration by Virginia Florista for every occasion: a more romantic one, other more classic and the last one more rustic. We started in the most romantic table with the starters: Cream of zucchini, some different types of Sushi, Fried calamari, Shellfish cocktail and the grilled Txangurro. At this point I was starting to be full XD but the tasting of Sushi and the Txangurro (crab) was so incredible good that you couldn’t say «no».

En este punto nos movimos a la segunda mesa, con una inspiración más clásica, menos flores y plantas más pequeñas para una novia más tradicional. Empezamos con una Vichyssoise de mango y picada Marina para cambiar sabores, ya que aquí íbamos a degustar las propuestas de los platos principales. Tuvimos dos opciones de pescado y dos opciones de carne: Lomo de merluza y Rodaballo al Champagne, y por el otro lado, Solomillo de buey y Pechuga de pato. He de reconocer que si fuera la novia no sabría que elegir, de verdad 😛 Pero venga, me mojo, me quedo con la merluza que estaba buenísima y el solomillo que tenía un punto perfecto. A estas alturas, si estuviéramos en una boda de verdad, habría sido genial llevar así un vestidito anchito y suelto porque estábamos llenísimos. Pero aun faltaba lo mejor, ¡los postres! Nos movimos a la tercera mesa con decoración más rústica para degustar 4 postres diferentes: Semifrío de café, Helado de menta, Pastel de zanahoria y Helado Frito. Soy tan tan fan de los postes que, aunque estaba llena, no pude resistirme a probarlos todos (ojo a la tarta de Zanahoria y al helado frito, aún tengo sueños con ellos).

At this point we moved to the second table, with a more classic inspiration, less flowers and smaller plants for a more traditional bride. We started with a Vichyssoise mango and Marine chopped to change flavours, because we were to try the main courses proposals. We had two options of fish and two options of meat: Hake fillet and Turbot in Champagne, and on the other hand, Ox sirloin and Duck breast. I have to recognise that If I were the bride, I wouldn’t know what to choose, promise 😛 But well, I’m going to do it, I choose the hake because it was awesome and the sirloin because it was done to perfection. By now, if I would be in a real wedding, It would have been a great idea to wear a loose dress because we were so full. But it was time for the best, desserts! We moved to the third table with more rustic decoration to taste 4 different desserts: Coffee ice cream cake, Mint ice cream, Carrot cake and Fried ice cream. I’m so so fan of desserts that, although I was full, I can’t resist to try all of them (take a look to the Carrot cake and the Fried ice cream, I’m still having dreams with them).

Organizar una boda no es algo fácil, lleva muchísimo tiempo y seguro que es un proceso en el que nos llevamos un montón de decepciones. Tener al menos una idea de sitios donde poder celebrar un día tan especial como este, puede quitarnos algún que otro dolor de cabeza. Sobre todo cuando el menu que ofrecen es tan amplio y rico. Pero, si aún no veis cercano ese gran día, como en mi caso, no pasa nada, Palapa estará encantado de abrir sus puertas para una cena con amigos, un aniversario con tu pareja, un cumpleaños con la familia o cualquier otro evento especial. Su bonita decoración, su envidiable localización y la gran variedad de platos para probar, hacen de este restaurante una buena apuesta. Sobre todo este verano, él, tu, comiendo en esa maravillosa terraza, vistas al mar y posterior paseo por la playa. Piénsalo 😉 Os dejo abajo toda la info sobre Palapa, ya que tienen menús para cada ocasión, aparte de su propia carta. Os mando además un besazo enorme a todos y os adelanto que esta semana viene cargada de cosas. Grandes cambios (el jueves sabréis más). Y un viaje, muy muy especial, pero no os digo nada todavía. Pronto. 

Organise a wedding it’s not something easy, it takes so much time and sure that it’s a process through you will get some disappointments. Having, at least, ideas of places where you can celebrate such a special day like this, it can take away some other headache. Above all when the menu they are offering is so extensive and delicious. But, if you don’t see near that big day, like in my case, it doesn’t matter, Palapa will be pleased to open its’ doors for a dinner with friends, an anniversary with your couple, a birthday with family or any other special event. Its’ beautiful decoration, its’ enviable location and the big variety of plates to try, makes this restaurant a good bet. Above all this summer, he, you, having lunch in that wonderful terrace, sea view and later walk on the beach.
